🎯Empowering Apple Device Management with Microsoft Intune: A New Era of Secure and Seamless Integration🎯
I came across a very exciting post sharing the top 10 enhancements to Microsoft Intune for Apple management. Here is my summary.
🔹 DMG App-Install Capability: Intune now supports in-place DMG app upgrades, streamlining app management for macOS devices. (In Preview)
🔹 Flexible PKG Installations: Intune is working on a solution to deploy apps with custom scripts and unsigned apps, offering flexibility and customisation.
🔹 macOS Software Updates: Stay secure by managing software updates in Intune, reducing the attack surface and dependency on manual installations.
🔹 Consistent Onboarding: Experience seamless onboarding across all Apple devices with the new Just-In-Time macOS/iPadOS enrollment experience.
🔹 Local Account Management: Keep an eye out for the public preview of local account management during macOS ADE, enabling customised local administrator settings.
🔹 Faster BYOD User Enrollment: Account-Driven User Enrollment simplifies onboarding, removes the iOS Company Portal app requirement, and introduces Enrollment SSO. (Coming in the next few months).
🔹 Secure ADE Enrollment: Intune will support Awaiting Final Configuration command for iOS/iPadOS, ensuring devices are secure and configured before user access.
🔹 Reduced iOS Enrollment Time: The new web-based device enrollment flow for BYOD scenarios will provide a quicker end-to-end enrollment process.
🔹Zero touch provisioning for iOS shared devices: Intune's Shared Device Mode (SDM) enables zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) for iOS shared devices. After deployment, the device will be set up with SDM without end-user input. Users on a shared device have a single sign-in and sign-out experience for all supported applications. App Protection Policies for iOS devices in SDM are possibly coming later this year.
🔹Ease migration to Declarative Device Management: Intune supports Apple's Declarative Device Management (DDM) protocol, for seamless transitions without affecting user experience. DDM and MDM coexist, providing flexibility and enhanced policy delivery.
In my personal opinion, it is clear that Microsoft's commitment to providing a secure and seamless integration of Apple devices with Microsoft Intune will help organisations worldwide enhance productivity and strengthen their device management strategies.
