🛡️Defender for Endpoint: Mixed-Licensing Scenarios🛡️
Are you juggling various licenses for your organization's endpoint security? Let me tell you what you can do to make the most of your current licensing.
📌 Mixed-Licensing Scenarios:
1️⃣ Mixed Tenant: use different set of capabilities for user groups and devices, such as Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 and Plan 2, or Microsoft 365 E3 and E5.
2️⃣ Mixed Trial: Try premium level subscriptions for a selection of users, such as combining Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 (purchased for all users), and Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 (a trial subscription has been started for some users)
3️⃣ Phased Upgrades: Upgrade user licenses in phases, such as moving user groups from Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 to Plan 2 or from Microsoft 365 E3 to E5.
📌If you are facing any of these scenarios, using Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 and Plan 2 in your tenant, the ability to manage your subscription settings across client devices is now IN PREVIEW!
📌 This capability enables you to:
🔸Apply either Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 or Plan 2 settings to all your client devices; or
🔸Use mixed mode and apply Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 settings to some client devices, and Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 to other client devices.
❗ Note: Mixed-license scenarios are not supported for Microsoft Defender for Business.
🔐Now, talking about server onboarding:
❗Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 and 2, Defender for Business, and Microsoft 365 Business Premium do not include server licenses.
📌To onboard servers, consider these options:
